LED Google Public Data Explorer

LED Google Public Data Explorer is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce's 2010 Open Government Plan to improve better understanding and use of Census Bureau data. This is another joint effort between the U.S. Census Bureau and the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) state partners in exploring use of innovative data visualization methods for the LED data. LED Google Public Data Explorer uses line charts, bar charts, and motion charts to visually present publicly available data for 7 pilot states:

• Arizona
• California
• Iowa
• Maine
• Ohio
• Virginia
• Washington

Some of the Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWI) displayed by LED Google Public Data Explorer are also available at QWI Online. The entire QWI data are downloadable from the VirtualRDC. Twenty-four (24) indicators [PDF; File Size: 36KB] are available in this pilot release up to and including the first quarter of 2010. Data are categorized by Age Group, Sex, Industry up to the 3-digit North American Industry Classification System, and Geographical Areas. More states, indicators, and categories will be added later.

Due to rounding and cell suppression, the values at higher levels of aggregation may differ slightly from employment numbers provided by QWI Online.
