Before an exuberant, patriotic crowd of approximately 1,000, Building Homes for Heroes welcomed home Army Sergeant Joel Tavera and family to their spectacular new home in Tampa, Florida on Saturday, November 19.
The event, which attracted high-ranking military personnel, including Army General Peter Chiarelli, Navy Admiral William McRaven, Army Major General Robert Abrams, Air Force Major General (Ret.) David Scott, Army Brigadier General Darryl Williams, Air Force Brigadier General Chip Diehl, and Gary Littrell (Congressional Medal of Honor recipient - US Army), all of whom attended specifically to pay tribute to Joel's extraordinary bravery, began with a magnificent procession along the flag-lined streets of New Tampa that stepped off from the James A. Vipers for Warriors holds beach fundraiser for wounded veterans
Vipers for Warriors, a nonprofit organization comprising local New York firefighters, recently presented Building Homes for Heroes with a check for $2,500 to support the home renovation for USMC Captain Byler in Huntington, Long Island. Vipers for Warriors, which was formed in 2007 to support wounded service members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, has donated a total of $5,000 to Building Homes for Heroes.

Moose Lodge holds fundraiser for wounded veterans
The Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 2121 of Port Charlotte Florida, held a fundraiser on May 26, 2012 to support Building Homes for Heroes and the wounded men and women of the military. The event raised $1,407.50. Special thanks to Roy Burker and all of the members of Moose Lodge 2121 for their support. The Lodge plans on holding another fundraising event later on in 2012.

Semper Fi
The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit set up to provide immediate financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. We direct urgently needed resources to post 9-11 service members within 24–72 hours of request. The Semper Fi Fund (SFF) provides relief for financial needs that arise during hospitalization and recovery as well as assistance for those with perpetuating needs. Our program provides support in a variety of ways including: Service Member and Family Support, Specialized & Adaptive Equipment, Adaptive Housing, Adaptive Transportation, Education and Career Transition Assistance, PTSD and TBI Support and Team Semper Fi. |
