Coast Guard Officers Visit Algeria

Two officers from the United States Coast Guard visited the Port of Arzew on July 17 to exchange views with Algerian officials relating to International Ship and Port Security practices.  The Coast Guard visitors toured the Arzew complex, which included the Port of Bethioua and the future site of Mers El Hadjadj. The Port of Arzew is Algeria’s most important hydrocarbon exporting port.  The visit renewed Algerian-American cooperation on maritime security.  The USCG has cited Algerian ports among its Best Practices on its Homeport Web site:
