American Citizen Services

Effective Monday January 19, 2009, a new online appointment system will be available for most American Citizen Services requiring a personal appearance in Algiers.  Effective Sunday February 03, 2013, ALL APPLICATIONS AND PAPER WORK MUST BE FILLED OUT BEFORE APPOINTMENT.  Please see information provided below to schedule your appointment.

Security at the Embassy

For security reasons, do not bring luggage including large backpacks, laptop computers, or large cameras. Security guards will hold small tourist cameras and cell phones until your departure, but there is no storage available other items please do not bring them to the Embassy.

The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit of the Consular Section provides information and assistance to U.S. citizens in Algeria.  The unit can help with passport services, registration of U.S. citizens residing in or visiting Algeria, reports of births abroad, voter registration, notarial services, and federal benefits.

The ACS Unit distributes Warden Messages to registered U.S. citizens resident in and visiting Algeria.  Warden Messages address important security concerns as well as civic issues such as voting. Click here to view the most recent Emergency Message for U.S. Citizens.

The ACS Unit also provides emergency services to U.S. citizens in distress.  In an emergency, the Embassy Duty Officer can be reached at any time.
