General Information
The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit of the U.S. Embassy Reykjavik provides a wide range of services to U.S. citizens visiting or residing in Iceland. The ACS Unit issues passports, registers U.S. citizens arrested in Iceland and to the families of Americans who pass away in our consular district.
How Do I Make an Appointment
To book an appointment please click BOOK AN APPOINTMENT. Please click the appropriate service link (on the left of this page) for more information on each service, a detailed list of what you need to bring with you to your appointment, and what number to call to schedule your ACS appointment at the Embassy.
Emergency in Iceland
For emergencies involving an American citizen in Iceland please call the American Citizen Services Unit at +354-562-9100 Monday through Friday between 8:00 and 17:00. For emergencies outside of regular business hours please contact the Embassy duty officer at +354-693-9207 (dial 011 first if calling from the U.S.)
You may also come to the Embassy anytime during our working hours (8:00 to 17:00 Monday through Friday) if you are an American citizen with an emergency. The Embassy is located at Laufásvegur 21, 101 Reykjavik.
Non-Emergency Contact
For non-emergency matters American citizens are welcome to email the U.S. Embassy in Reykjavik anytime at reykjavikconsular@state.gov. You will receive a response to your message within two business days. You may also reach the ACS Unit by phone between our public phone hours of 14:00 and 16:00 Monday to Friday at +354-562-9100 or +354-697-4448.
