This group (86-68250) specializes in technical investigations, designs, reviews, and related work in flood hydrology and hydrometeorology. Representative services include:
Looking for Emergency Management? Those functions are now handled by the Emergency Management and GIS Group. |
- Extreme precipitation and extreme flood event studies up to the probable maximum flood
- Hydrologic input for risk assessments of dams
- Inflow design hydrographs and cross-drainage analyses
- Flood frequency and statistical hydrological analyses
- Dam breach and inundation mapping using 1D and 2D modeling techniques
- Dam failure consequence estimation
- Drought index development and application
- Hydrometeorology and hydrology research
- Fluvial geomorphology studies and paleoflood hydrology investigations
- Meteorological water analysis and forecasting
- Cloud physics analyses of precipitation processes
- NEXRAD precipitation processing application
- General meteorological studies including field program evaluation and analysis
The group is heavily involved in the hydrological aspects of Reclamation's Dam Safety Program and provides services to other Department of the Interior agencies as well. Standards and criteria are developed and coordinated with other Federal agencies concerned with flood hydrology, hydrometeorology, and dam safety.
