The U.S. Mission to UNESCO is proud to be a part of the President's vision to advance human rights, tolerance and learning throughout the world. We are working to meet these challenges and are putting forward our best diplomatic efforts to advance the President’s priorities and to help create a brighter and better future for people around the world.

Ambassador David T. Killion was named by President Barack Obama as Permanent Representative of the United States to the UNESCO and holds the rank of Ambassador and Permanent Delegate. He was sworn in on August 12, 2009.

Deputy Chief of Mission Kathleen A. Kavalec arrived in Paris on July 23, 2010.

The staff of the U.S. Mission currently includes the Deputy Chief of Mission, Legal Adviser, Public Affairs (Communication/Culture) Officer, and Education and Development Officer.
