Good neighbors help their community. That’s the philosophy behind our efforts to work with and support Ventura County area residents, schools and organizations. Whether charities, health, education or special events, we’re here to contribute as much as we can. Partnership with the community has been a tradition and a privilege of NSWC PHD since the command was established in 1963.

Ship Tours Offer A Glimpse of Life Aboard
Whenever possible, we invite groups from the community to tour visiting ships. On these tours, guests can meet and talk with the crew, see how today’s Sailors live at sea, take a look at modern weapons systems and view the technology that makes our ships safer and more effective.
Command Personnel Are Major Contributors to Blood Drive
Excellent participation in our quarterly blood drives makes NSWC PHD one of the largest contributors to the Ventura County Blood Drive Program. Our employees donate an average of 500 pints of blood a year to the country’s blood bank.
Employees Give to Non-Profit Organizations
Through payroll deductions under the Combined Federal Campaign, command employees offer assistance to others in need. Annually, NSWC PHD personnel pledge, on average, $200,000 to local and national charities.
Equipment Donations Aid Local Schools
As part of our continuing efforts to support the education of local youth, the command donates underutilized electronic equipment to local schools under an agreement with the Ventura County Community College District Foundation.
