Assay Development and High-Throughput Screening
The goal of the NCGC Assay Biology Teams in the NCATS Division of Pre-Clinical Innovation is to optimize biochemical, cellular and model organism-based assays requested or submitted by the biomedical research community for high-throughput small molecule screening. The results of these screens (probes) can be used to further interrogate protein and cell functions and biological processes relevant to physiology and disease. In addition, these probes can be further optimized to become potential lead candidates in the drug development pipeline.
The NCGC Assay Guidance Manual and the High-Throughput Screening Assay Guidance Criteria contain detailed information on developing appropriate assays for high-throughput screening projects.
