American Citizen Services (ACS)

The American Citizen Services (ACS) section provides information and assistance to U.S. citizens in Australia. American Citizen Services consists of the Passport & Citizenship and Special Consular Services sections. For information on American Citizen Services please make your selection from the options on the menu at the left side of this page.

To be allowed entry into the consular section for routine (non-emergency) services, you must make an appointment online for the Consulate that serves your area. If you can conduct your business by mail or online, please do so. Note: If the particular service you need does not require a personal appearance at the Consulate, you will be instructed to submit your application by mail.

Travel Advice for American Citizens

U.S. citizens living or traveling abroad are encouraged to sign up to the Smart Traveler Enrolment Program (STEP) to receive updated information on travel and security. Signing up also makes it easier for the Embassy or Consulate to make contact in an emergency.
