Cultural Envoy Connects Sister Cities Yekaterinburg and San Jose

Joel Slayton, Executive Director of ZERO1 Biennale at San Jose, CA and Director of the CADRE Laboratory for New Media at San Jose State University, came to Yekaterinburg as a Cultural Envoy to discuss areas of cooperation between biennale organizers in both cities. Slayton spoke at Urals State University and explained how media art is one of the most cutting edge and promising directions in contemporary art development. He adds that modern artists employee techniques that incorporate information, telecommunication, and other technologies to create intricate, thought-provoking images. This visit is intended to encourage dialog between artists of Yekaterinburg and her Sister City, San Jose, CA.
