25th Anniversary of US-Mongolia Diplomatic Relations

Mongolians traditionally celebrate anniversaries – and January 27 is an especially notable one as we together commemorate the 25^th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between our two countries. 

Since 1987 our relations have broadened and deepened.  This past year has seen the Mongolian president visit the United States and the United States Vice President visit Mongolia.  Our two countries work together on issues as diverse as cultural preservation, economic development and education.  More and more we are also involved in commercial relationships.  

The establishment of our diplomatic relations was marked by the signing of documents by U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz and Mongolian Ambassador to the United Nations G. Nyamdoo in the Treaty Room at the United States Department of State.  Embassy Ulaanbaatar is marking the 25th anniversary of the event both on the day it occurred and with a series of events throughout 2012.  We hope you’ll return to this web page throughout the year to view photos, read articles and remarks, and otherwise help celebrate this landmark anniversary.
