American Citizen Services

APP Bordeaux provides limited passport and citizenship services for American citizens and birth registrations for U.S. citizen children born abroad.  Notarial and authentication services are provided for U.S. and non-American citizens for documents to be used in the United States, and for U.S. citizens for administrative purposes in France such as marriage.

Consular services in Bordeaux for the regions of Aquitaine and Poitou-Charentes and Limousin are available by appointment only for persons residing or traveling in the area.

Appointments for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad and all Passport Services are scheduled on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 12.00 and 13:30 to 15:30.  Notarial and Authentication Services, and Social Security / Federal Benefits services may be scheduled Monday through Friday by appointment only.

Please contact the APP Bordeaux by telephone, 05 56 48 63 85 or by e-mail at: usabordeaux@state.gov to schedule your appointment.  APP Bordeaux is closed on all American and French holidays.

Note:  APP Bordeaux does not have a switchboard or telephone attendants.  Only one staff member handles services for American citizens.  If that employee is assisting citizens with pre-scheduled appointments, or is on the phone assisting citizens with their queries, then a voice mail system will engage.  Please leave a specific message, including a day-time telephone number, and your call will be returned as quickly as possible.

In case of after-hours emergencies concerning an American citizen (death, a serious health problem, or a missing person) you may telephone the U.S. Embassy in Paris at the following number: 01 43 12 22 22, from the U.S. dial 011 33 1 43 12 22 22.
