General Information

It is important that all applicants for non-immigrant visas schedule an interview several weeks in advance of their intended departure date.

Before appearing at the Embassy, applicants must fill out the application form DS-160 on line, available at: https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/

Applicants should arrive at the Embassy on the day of their appointment by 7:30 am with their DS-160 receipt, ECOBANK receipt, and supporting documents. Applicants should expect to spend most of the day at the Embassy.  If granted, many visas will be available for pick-up at the Embassy in 2 business days. You will be given a numbered passport receipt and pick-up time after the interview that will determine the exact date that your visa will be ready.

If the consular officer decides not to issue a visa, the applicant will receive a letter of explanation of the law at the end of the interview. A refusal is not a moral judgment. Applicants can reapply, but a new application and payment of the visa application processing fee will be required.

If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, you must ask for a new interview date with the Consular Section. If the applicant's ECOBANK receipt will expire (receipts are valid one year from the date of deposit), the applicant may have to reapply at ECOBANK and restart the process. If an applicant would like to request an expedited appointment for emergency travel, please contact the consular section.

All minor children must be accompanied to their interview by their parents/guardians.

Cell phones, tape recorders, cameras, electronic items, or sharp instruments are prohibited in the Consular Section.

Types of Visas: A, C, and G Visas – Diplomats and Government officials

If you are a Guinean Diplomat or Government Official traveling on official business, we may be able to wave the interview requirement for you. Please see the Guinean Foreign Ministry for a referral. If you are a diplomat for another foreign government or an international organization (such as the UN) traveling on official business, please drop off your application any Thursday after 1400. If an interview is required you will be interviewed the following Tuesday. Please note that this is a one week minimum process.

Instructions for B1/B2 (Temporary Visitor) and F1 (Student Visa Applicants)

• Completed online DS-160 applicatin.
• Current passport valid for six months after the appointment date
• One 5cm x 5cm photograph with a white background. This type of photo can be taken at ABD photo or AMINA Photo.
• Receipt for the processing fee at the main Ecobank office located  downtown.

Additional documents that could be helpful for a B1/B2 interview:

1. Documentary evidence submitted during the interview should reflect the nonimmigrant visa applicant’s ability to pay for his expenses during the length of item he anticipates staying in the U.S. and/or a notarized affidavit of support specifying the amount and length of time of the financial support the sponsor will provide the sponsor’s other financial obligations.
2. Bank statements with average monthly balances over the past six months.
3. Salary statements for the last three months.
4. A statement from the sponsor’s employer showing the date sponsor began work, current salary, and whether the position is full-time or temporary. If your sponsor(s) live in the United States, please provide all the above information plus originals or certified copies of W-2 form(s) and a federal income tax return for the most recent calendar year.
5. In order to establish a family relationship, please bring birth and/or marriage certificates to prove the relationships between family members planning to travel together. Children should appear at visa interviews and may be interviewed separately from their parents.

Note: There is not a specific piece of documentation that any applicant can provide to prove or convince the Consular officer that they have strong enough ties to their country of origin. The Consular officer makes a determination on NIV eligibility based on a combination of the interview questions and documentation that may have been provided by the applicant. Adults must qualify on their individual merits. No friend, relative, or business associate can “guarantee” your return on your behalf. A letter of invitation promising to pay the expenses of your trip does not mean that you will receive a visa.
