 David HesterGeographerContact InfoShort Biography A Geographer with the U.S. Geological Survey-Geosciences and Environmental Change Science Center, Dave has worked on interdisciplinary seismic research investigations including Regional Earthquake Hazard Assessments (REHA) in Puget Sound, Loma Prieta, and Southern California. Hydrologic research investigations include National Water Quality Assessments (NAWQA) in the Midwest; that is Red River of the North, Minnesota and White River, Indiana. Collaboration with Department of the Interior agencies such as the Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation has involved assessment and implementation of geospatial technologies for public land and natural resource management decisions. Dave’s geographic research has included analysis of temporal landscape change in the Southwest, specifically, urban growth and impacts to groundwater resources for the Albuquerque (Middle Rio Grande Basin Study) and Austin-San Antonio (Edwards Aquifer Project) metropolitan areas. In addition, he has been involved in investigating socioeconomic, commuting, human migration and commodity flow information as parameters for assessing the socioeconomic impacts of a simulated magnitude 7.8 earthquake (ShakeOut Scenario) occurring on the San Andreas Fault in Southern California (Multi-Hazards Demonstration Project).
