JOB SUMMARY:

Our mission is to provide an exemplary education that inspires and prepares the children of our dedicated U.S. Military members for success in a dynamic, global environment.

Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is a DoD Field Activity responsible for the oversight of two school systems, the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) and the Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary & Secondary Schools (DDESS).  DoDEA employs more than 12,000 individuals responsible for educating approximately 90,000 students in 12 foreign countries, seven states, Guam, and Puerto Rico.  The mission of DoDEA is to provide a quality education from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve for the eligible minor family members of DoD military and civilian personnel on official assignments.

 

NOTE:  Applications are being accepted to establish a register that will be used to fill multiple vacancies as they occur throughout the year. Location and work schedule of vacancies will vary based on the needs of the DoDEA District and can be located at any of our schools. There is no guarantee if or when vacancies will be available.

EDUCATIONAL AID (General), GS-1702-04
Incumbent may perform some or all of the duties described below:
Prepares instructional materials related to class lessons by typing, duplicating, arranging, or displaying materials as instructed. Prepares letters, tests, schedules, purchase orders, and other documents through the use of a personal computer or typewriter. The position does not require competitive level typing or office automation skills.
Collects resources such as maps, charts, magazine articles, and library books for teachers and students to support the educational lessons designed by the classroom teacher.
Monitors students on the playground, in hallways and restrooms, during study halls, during lunch, and in bus loading areas.
Supervises small study groups and student committees, testing situations (as appropriate), and students’ individual research projects. Assists students in subject areas and make-up work.

 

EDUCATIONAL AID (Special Education), GS-1702-04
In this position, you will assist the special education instructional program for students with disabilities. Employees in this position provide assistance in teaching skills in toileting, feeding, eating, and personal hygiene. Lift, carry, transfer, and facilitate the motor development of physically impaired students. Observes and records student's behaviors and activities. Tutors students. Performs a variety of administrative tasks. Assists handicapped students to and from school. The employee may be assigned to work in classroom, media center, health clinic, or school office. May monitor students on playgrounds, in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and cafeteria during recess and lunch periods, and in bus loading areas before and after school, to assist students in their activities, ensure proper behavior, and observation of safety rules.

In order to qualify for these positions, you need one year of general work experience. General work experience is defined as clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Candidates should describe experience, education, and/or training that demonstrates their ability to provide support services to professional educators in a classroom setting. Include all experience working with children in any capacity in a group or on an individual basis in an educational or recreational/social environment.

 


 

OR EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION of two years above high school. One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school.
