JOB SUMMARY:

Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is a DoD Field Activity responsible for the oversight of two school systems, the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) and the Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary & Secondary Schools (DDESS).  DoDEA employs more than 12,000 individuals responsible for educating approximately 90,000 students in 12 foreign countries, seven states, Guam, and Puerto Rico.  The mission of DoDEA is to provide a quality education from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve for the eligible minor family members of DoD military and civilian personnel on official assignments.

 

NOTE:  Applications are being accepted to establish a register that will be used to fill multiple vacancies as they occur throughout the year. Location and work schedule of vacancies will vary based on the needs of the DoDEA District and can be located at any of our schools. There is no guarantee if or when vacancies will be available.

OFFICE AUTOMATION ASSISTANT, GS-0326-05
In this position, you will perform various office automation duties in support of school administration. Uses database and spreadsheet software to enter, revise, sort and retrieve data pertaining to school administration. Sets up and operates peripheral equipment and devices to process a variety of applications programs. May perform one or more of the following duties: Serves as back-up and assists the School Information Assistant by entering and retrieving information in the Student Management System (SMS) database. Assists in the registration of new students. Establishes and manages personnel files to include Notification of Personnel Actions (SF50) and teacher certifications/recertifications, records related to school correspondence/mail distribution, and freedom of information act data. Prepares and tracks Military Interdepartmental Purchase requests (MIPRs) and provides printouts of available funds information to the school principal. Maintains the Key Control Register and controls the issuance of office and/or school keys. Serves as the schools Telephone Control Officer (TCO). Orders, maintains, and displays controlling regulations, publications and required forms that may have been issued by a variety of sources. May perform office automation work, including word processing, and a variety of clerical functions in support of a special education assessor office within the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) at a school or school complex level. Maintains time and attendance, and leave records in the absence of school secretary.

In order to qualify for these positions, applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower level or pay band equivalent to the General Schedule (GS-04) or other pay systems. Specialized experience is defined as experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience must be directly related to the line of work of this position. Education may be substituted for specialized experience if the applicant has1 full year of graduate level education.  Such education must demonstrate the knowledge skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

 

 


OR EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION of four years above high school. One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school.
