Consul General Mike Reinert

Mike Reinert arrived in Yekaterinburg as Consul General in September, 2010. He entered the U.S. diplomatic service in 1993. Prior to arriving in Russia, he was the Department of State’s visiting professor of Political Science at the U.S. Air Force Academy. His previous overseas postings include Sarajevo, Tashkent, Minsk, Madrid, and Santiago. He was also a State Department fellow at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

A native of New Mexico, he holds a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and master’s degrees from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and the Harvard Kennedy School. Prior to joining the diplomatic service, he served as an Army officer. He continues to serve in the U.S. Army reserve as a colonel and has had active duty and reserve military assignments in Germany, Japan, Panama, and the continental U.S. He is married to Sanja Omanovic.
