Passport services require appointments, which are available for American citizens Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, except American and Pakistani holidays.

All applications are electronically forwarded to the National Passport Center in New Orleans for processing, except in cases of emergency travel.  All applicants are required to be physically present when submitting their application.  

If your child is under the age of 16, both parents must be physically present in order to sign the application.  If one parent cannot be present, form DS-3053 must be filled out by the absent parent and notarized.  Please allow two weeks for receipt of your passport.

Documentary Requirements

Proof of citizenship (please bring one or more of the following original documents):

  • Previously issued U.S. passport;
  • U.S. birth certificate (original or copy certified by an official government custodian of birth records);
  • Certificate of Naturalization; and/or
  • Consular Report of Birth Abroad.

Proof of identity (please bring one or more of the following original documents):

  • Previously issued U.S. passport;
  • Certificate of Naturalization; and/or
  • A formal identity document issued by a competent authority of the municipality, state, or country in which the applicant resides (e.g., driver's license).

Two photographs that meet the following requirements:

  • Color photograph of you, taken within the last six months;
  • 2x2 inches in size;
  • The image size measured from the bottom of your chin to the top of your head (including hair) should not be less than 1 inch and not more than 1 3/8 inches;
  • The photograph must be clear with a full front view of your face, and printed on thin paper with plain, white background;
  • They must be capable of withstanding a mounting temperature of 225 Fahrenheit (107 Celsius);
  • Photograph must be taken in normal street attire, without a hat, head covering, or glasses. In certain situations, medically or religiously necessary items may be allowed. please contact us if you believe you might qualify; and 
  • Photograph may not be retouched or changed in any way so that your appearance is changed (e.g., lightened complexion, airbrushing, etc.).

The Passport Application Process

You should use Form DS-82 if these three conditions are met:

  • You have been issued a U.S. passport in your name within the past 15 years; AND
  • You are able to submit your most recent U.S. passport at the time of application; AND
  • You were at least 16 years of age when that passport was issued.

If these 3 requirements are not met, or if your prior passport was lost, stolen, or mutilated you must use Form DS-11.

Note on Emergency Travel: In cases of emergency travel, where waiting two weeks for the passport will cause undue hardship, the Consular Section is authorized to print a limited validity passport that cannot be extended.
