Mission:
The mission of the Carlisle Barracks Veterinary Treatment Facility is to provide the highest quality of veterinary/medical care and preventive medicine to our military families and their pets at a reasonable cost. Animal care services are provided for all active duty, as well as retired service members and their families. Variety of services are authorized and are directed toward preventing, diagnosing, and controlling infectious diseases. All services for privately owned animals are provided on an appointment basis only.
The VET Facility is not equipped to handle: emergencies, hospitalization, surgeries, boarding, or grooming.

Facility Policies:
1. “No Show” Policy: please notify us as soon as possible if you cannot make your appointment, so that we can accommodate our customers. This will help us to provide high quality service to the personnel in the area. Chronic “no shows” may result in suspension of veterinary privileges.
2. All dogs must be either on a leash or in a carrier. All cats must be in a carrier. The pet must be under the owner’s control at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS!
3. Animals that are used or planned to be used for breeding or profit are not allowed services at the VTF (AR 40-905 Ch3-2(1)).

Animal bites:
Any person bitten or scratched by an animal should report to Dunham US Army Health Clinic or off post hospital for treatment and completion of an Animal Bite Report. The offending animal is subject to a physical examination and 10-day quarantine by the attending veterinarian.

PCSing Oversees:
Contact the VTF as soon as you are notified that you are PCSing to find out what your pet needs prior to departure. *Be sure to ask about shipping and quarantine requirements; some countries have strict import requirements and may require more than six months preparation time to ensure that all requirements can be met and health certificates issued on time. Please call in advance to schedule appointments for required testing, vaccinations, microchipping and health certificates. Remember to pick up your pet’s records when PCSing to your next duty station. If you no longer own the pet please notify the VTF so your record can be properly disposed of.
