PEPFAR Scholarship Program

Background

Once, the U.S. Embassy Ambassador's Girls' Scholarship Program, this program is now funded by PEPFAR/Lesotho. The previous program, funded by USAID/Washington, ended in December 2011. To allow the students that are currently enrolled in the program to finish their respective levels of education, the U.S. Embassy Lesotho, through the PEPFAR Scholarship Program, has agreed to fund scholarships through Fiscal Year 2014.

The PEPFAR Scholarship Program supports scholarships for retention of girls and boys who would otherwise have no means of staying in school. Mentoring complements the scholarship program to inspire and encourage children in their educational pursuits. One component of the program is to support a focus on HIV/AIDS mitigation and prevention for these children. Students have been awarded scholarships on the basis of academic merit, income, and the effects of HIV/AIDS on the child or family.

Current PSP Status

Unfortunately, we are no longer accepting applications for the PSP, but are continuing to provide scholarships to students currently enrolled.
