Hawk

The MIM-23 Hawk was a surface-to-air missile specifically designed to supplement the Nike missile systems. While the Nike missile systems took care of high altitude threats the Hawk was ready to fight and win against low altitude adversaries. Capable of knocking out aircraft flying anywhere between 100 and 38,000 feet the Hawk faithfully stood guard over fixed emplacements and troops in the field. Highly mobile, this system could be transported by helicopter and was also used by the U.S. Marine Corps and a host of foreign allies to defend their national interests.

Rugged and reliable the Hawk was an important element of U.S. Army Air Defense for well over 30 years far outliving the Nike systems it was originally meant to compliment. Throughout various conflicts the Hawk distinguished itself as an accurate and reliable weapon system in its own right able to go where needed and defend the skies.
