General Information

The Consular section of the United States Embassy in Dushanbe, Tajikistan provides nonimmigrant visa services to citizens of Tajikistan.  Interviews are by scheduled appointment only.  Please click on "apply for a visa" for detailed information.  The current wait time for an interview is 1 day.  You should schedule your interview at least 4-6 weeks prior to your anticipated travel date; however, you should not purchase an airline ticket until your visa is issued and placed in your passport.

Nonimmigrant visa applicants can apply for a visa at any United States Embassy or Consulate in the world; however, it is more difficult for a Consular officer to determine your eligibility if you are not a resident of the Consular district where you applied.  When possible, you should apply in the consular district were you reside.

The U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe will only accept visa applications from citizens of Iran and other third-country nationals not resident in Tajikistan on the first Thursday of each month.  If you make an appointment for any other day of the month, it will be cancelled without any notification.  If you appear at the Embassy without a confirmed appointment, you will not be admitted.

Please send requests for appointments for each applicant to dushanbeconsular@state.gov in English.  In your e-mail request you must include each applicant's full name, date of birth, passport number, and the confirmation number received after submitting your on-line visa application.
Please note:  Iranians may make appointments and apply for nonimmigrant visas at any nonimmigrant visa issuing post. However, you should be aware that the interviewing officers' lack of familiarity with local conditions in your country may make it more difficult to demonstrate your qualifications for a visa. We have Farsi-speaking consular officers in Dubai and Ankara, and many Iranian nonimmigrant visa applicants choose to apply at those posts.  Applicants may not bring a translator.  For more information please visit the Department of State website.
