Voting Information

Information on Registering to Vote and Voting Outside the U.S.

The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act guarantees United States citizens overseas the right to vote in federal elections in the United States.  This legislation applies only to federal elections. However, many states in the United States have also enacted legislation permitting certain categories of citizens residing overseas to vote by absentee ballot in state or local elections.  To register online as an absentee voter, please visit the website of the Federal Voting Assistance Program.

If you would prefer to complete a physical voter registration form, the Consular Section can provide you the necessary form and access to a physical copy of the voting assistance guide, which provides instructions for completing the form.  Both documents can also be found at the Federal Voting Assistance Program's website.

Please note that there are no voting facilities at the Consulate.  You must register as an absentee voter and vote by mail if you are overseas.
