Security Requirements

You MUST follow these requirements or you won't get in!

To facilitate access to the Consular Section, applicants for any service, including American citizens, are requested to carry only those items that are absolutely necessary.  Failure to follow these instructions may result in the cancellation of your appointment.

Only applicants with appointments will be admitted into the Consulate.  Children should not be brought to Consulate unless there is a specific reason for their attendance such as renewing a passport, or an immigrant visa case.  You must make outside childcare arrangements for your children.  Likewise, parents, grandparents, and escorts of applicants will not be admitted unless they have an active case that requires their participation.

Exceptions will be made only if the applicant requires an interpreter or if the applicant is disabled and requires assistance. The interpreter or caretaker’s name must be on the appointment list.  The security guards will not permit anyone to wait outside the Consulate, so please do not bring anyone else with you.

All visitors to the Consulate, including American citizens, are required to go through a security inspection.  No weapons are permitted at the Consulate and we do not provide any weapon storage. Large bags, such as backpacks, suitcases or packages are not allowed within the Consulate.  Sealed envelopes cannot be brought into the Consulate.  Additionally, please also do not bring cameras, mobile phones or any other electronic devices, such as Blackberries, iPods, PDAs or remote-entry automobile key "fobs" to the interview as they are not allowed in the Consulate.  We cannot held responsible for lost or missing items that are checked with security.

Please do not arrive at the Consulate more than 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
