The State Department has a new website concerning voting overseas.

The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) is responsible for administering the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA). This Act requires that states and territories allow most U.S. citizens to register and vote absentee in elections for Federal office.

Citizens eligible to vote include:

• Members of the Uniformed Services (including Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard)
• Merchant Marines
• Eligible family members of the above
• Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service, and Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
• U.S. citizens employed by the Federal Government residing outside the U.S.,
• All other private U.S. citizens residing outside the U.S.

Mailing your FPCA (and later your Voting Ballots) to the U.S.

All U.S. voting material is marked "U.S. Postage Paid" for mailing in the U.S. Overseas voters have two options for mailing:

• Voter registrations, as well as completed and sealed ballots may be brought to the mail reception booth at U.S. Embassy in Surco, Lima, from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., to be mailed to your state's election office at no charge.
• You can airmail your completed FPCA and Voting Ballot from Peru by affixing the appropriate Airmail Postage.
