U.S. Ambassador Makes Visit to Codrington School

Last Friday, Ambassador Dr. Larry L. Palmer visited the Codrington School in St. John to show support for education and to present a donation of US$5000 in equipment to upgrade the school’s technology and improve the science lab.

The Ambassador was welcomed by principal Darryl Brown and two students, Ari Albalak and Jose Waimin-Almandares and got a sneak peek at Codrington’s Holiday Extravaganza as the primary school students rehearsed for the production.

This was followed by an interview with four members of Codrington School’s Journalism Club - Robyn McBride, Laura Verdina, Jack Dyble and Brandon Best.

The four roving reporters pressed Ambassador Palmer with some excellent questions, covering topics such as his favorite things to do in Barbados (visiting the wonderful beaches on the East Coast) and the proudest moments in his career (becoming the U.S. Ambassador to Barbados).

When asked about the International Baccalaureate and international education, Ambassador Palmer underlined the value of a diverse, international and open-minded perspective in preparation for the world of work and higher education.
