In order to apply for a Visa, most applicants must go to the Applicant Service Center(ASC) before their interview at the Consular Section. ASC staff will take the applicant's biometric information which will be reviewed by the Consular Section before the interview. Service Centers are not located in the Embassy or Consulates.

The new procedure will have certain advantages for the applicant:

The total cost to process the visa will be lower. You no longer need to make a payment to make the appointment, another payment to process the visa application and another for the courier to deliver the document. Applicants will only make one payment to cover all three services. The current rate will remain unchanged: $ 160 USD to process a tourist visa, $ 190 USD for visa cases with Petition (including visas for temporary workers) and $ 270 USD for visas for traders and investors.

Many applicants who wish to renew their visas are not required to attend an interview with a consular officer, but only attend the nearest ASC where they can present their documents and take their fingerprints. Please check the page for the Interview Waiver Program.

Because the biometric information will be made at the ASC, applicants who require a second appointment to be interviewed at the Consular Section will remain in this less time than in the past.

The procedure is summarized in the following steps:

Step 1: Fill out form DS-160 online.

Step 2: Make the payment for processing your visa application or Scotia bank Banamex. Payment may also be made by credit card in step 3.

Step 3: Schedule an appointment through our website or our call center (no charge).

Step 4: Show up to  your appointment at the Applicant Services Center (ASC), which will take your photograph and fingerprints.

Step 5: An applicant who requires an interview at the Consular Section will attend the Embassy or Consulate, where he will be interviewed by a consular official.

Step6: If the visa is approved, you can collect the visa at the DHL office selected (no additional cost).
