U.S. Citizen Services

PLEASE NOTE: The Consular Section will be temporarily closed the morning of February 13 for all services.  We will reopen the same day at 1:00 pm for American Citizen Services.

The Consular Section will also be closed all day on February 14.

In the event of an emergency involving a U.S. citizen, please call 2259-1001 and ask to speak with the ACS Section.

Welcome to the American Citizen Services section at U.S. Embassy - Kuwait.  We provide a range of services, including the issuance and renewal of passports, reports of birth abroad, and distributing Treasury Checks for Americans residing in Kuwait.  While Consular Officers are prepared to assist citizens in these and other ways, a Consular Officer can neither perform marriages nor obtain the release of Americans from prison.

The U.S. Embassy in Kuwait disseminates information to the public through the Department of State’s Consular Information Program.  The State Department’s Office of American Citizens Services and Crisis Management (ACS) administers the Consular Information Program, which informs the public of conditions abroad that may affect their safety and security. Country Specific Information, Travel Alerts, and Travel Warnings are vital parts of this program and are available for all countries.

When the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait releases information, it will always be published on the Embassy’s website at http://kuwait.usembassy.gov.  In addition, those enrolled in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) will receive messages via email.  U.S. citizens in Kuwait are encouraged to enroll in STEP, to receive the latest travel updates and information and to obtain updated information on travel and security issues.  By enrolling, U.S. citizens make it easier for the Embassy to contact them in case of emergency.  Please visit http://travel.state.gov/to enroll in STEP or update your information.

Hours:  Services are available Sunday to Thursday (excluding holidays), and by appointment only.

Contact Information:  Please contact us at KuwaitACS@state.gov.  For Emergencies, please call (965) 2259-1001.

Smart Traveler:  All U.S. citizens traveling to, or residing in Kuwait are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Pgoram (STEP).
