American Enterprise Institute The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) sponsors original research on government policy, the American economy, and American politics. The Institute is an independent, nonpartisan organization.

Asia/Pacific Research Center, Stanford University The Asia/Pacific Research Center (A/PARC) is a research and training program within Stanford University's Institute for International Studies. The Center's work focuses on contemporary economic, political, technological, strategic, and social issues of importance to Asia and to the interactions of the United States with nations in the region.

The Aspen Institute The Aspen Institute is an international nonprofit educational institution dedicated to enhancing the quality of leadership through informed dialogue. It convenes people who represent diverse viewpoints and backgrounds from business, labor, government, the professions, the arts, and the nonprofit sector to relate timeless ideas and values to the foremost challenges facing societies, organizations, and individuals.

Baker Institute The Baker Institute for Public Policy is named in honor of James A. Baker, III, a former Secretary of State and Secretary of the Treasury. The Institute's goal is to advance effective foreign and domestic policy, through research, education and public outreach.

Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy  The Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy (BRIE) is an interdisciplinary research project that focuses on international economic competition and the development and application of advanced technologies.

Brookings Institution The Brookings Institution is a private, independent, nonprofit research organization. It seeks to improve the performance of American institutions, the effectiveness of government programs, and the quality of U.S. public policies. It addresses current and emerging policy challenges and offers practical recommendations for dealing with them.

The Carter Center The Carter Center is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy institute founded by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn. The Center is dedicated to fighting disease, hunger, poverty, conflict, and oppression through collaborative initiatives in the areas of democratization and development, global health, and urban revitalization.

Cato Institute The Cato Institute is a nonpartisan public policy research foundation. The Institute undertakes an extensive publications program dealing with the complete spectrum of policy issues, including the federal budget, Social Security, monetary policy, natural resource policy, military spending, regulation, NATO, international trade.

Center for Defense Information The Center for Defense Informationan, independent monitor of the military, is a private, nongovernmental, research organization. CDI analyzes military spending, policies, and weapons systems.

The Center for Democracy and Technology The CDT's mission is to develop public policies that preserve and advance democratic values and constitutional civil liberties on the Internet and other interactive communications media.

Center for National Policy  The Center for National Policy (CNP) is a public policy organization. CNP is dedicated to developing better understanding about major issues confronting the nation.

Center for Public Integrity  The Center for Public Integrity is a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization. It confronts the national crisis of confidence in the political process.

Center for Security Studies and Conflict Research  The Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS) is a research center in the fields of comparative politics and international relations of the ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) and the University of Zurich.

Center for Strategic & International Studies  The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a public policy research institution dedicated to policy analysis and impact. It covers key functional areas, such as international finance, the emerging markets, U.S. domestic and economic policy related to the strengthening of America, and U.S. foreign policy and national security issues.

Communications Policy Project (Benton Foundation) The Benton Foundation promotes public interest values and noncommercial services for the National Information Infrastructure through research and policy analysis, outreach to nonprofits and foundations, and print, video, and online publishing.

Council on Competitiveness  The Council on Competitiveness is a nonpartisan, nonprofit forum of chief executives from the business, university and labor communities working together to set a national action agenda for U.S. leadership in global markets, technological innovation, and education and training that will raise the standard of living of all Americans.

Democratic Leadership Council -- Progressive Policy Institute The Democratic Leadership Council' seeks to reshape American politics by moving beyond the old left-right political debate and to help to rebuild a new Democratic majority ready for the challenges of the information age.

East-West Center The East-West Center is an internationally recognized education and research organization that helps promote the establishment of a stable, peaceful and prosperous Asia Pacific community in which the United States is a natural, valued and leading partner.

Economic Strategy Institute The Economic Strategy Institute is an activist think tank, developing briefing papers, articles, commentary, and books on pertinent topics. Key to ESI's agenda are trade, competitiveness and economic policy issues.

Federation of American Scientists  The Federation of American Scientists conducts analysis and advocacy on science, technology and public policy, including nuclear weapons, arms sales, biological hazards, secrecy, and space policy. FAS is a privately-funded non-profit policy organization.

Global Environment and Trade Study  The Global Environment and Trade Study, is an organization founded by several leaders in the trade and environment field, dedicated to promoting better understanding of and communication about issues regarding international trade, environmental protection, the use of natural resources, and sustainable development

The Group of Thirty  The Group of Thirty is a private, independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit body. It aims to deepen understanding of international economic and financial issues, to explore the international repercussions of decisions taken in the public and private sectors, and to examine the choices available to market practitioners and to policymakers.

The Henry L. Stimson Center The Stimson Center is a nonprofit, nonpartisan institution devoted to public policy research. The center concentrates on particularly difficult national and international security issues where policy, technology, and politics intersect.

The Heritage Foundation The Heritage Foundation is a research and educational institute whose mission is to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.

Hoover Institution  The Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace at Stanford University is a center for advanced study in domestic and international affairs. It contains archives and libraries on economic, political, and social change in the twentieth century, as well as a scholarly press.

Hudson Institute  Hudson Institute is a private, not-for-profit research organization. Hudson analyzes and makes recommendations about public policy for business and government executives and for the public at large.

Institute for International Studies  The Institute for International Studies at Stanford University seeks solutions to real-world, international problems through research and teaching programs that bring together faculty and students from different disciplines and schools.

International Institute for Strategic Studies  The International Institute for Strategic Studies is an independent center for research, information and debate on the problems of conflict. Its work is grounded in an appreciation of the various political, economic and social problems that can lead to instability, as well as the factors that can lead to international cooperation.

The Institute for Defense Analysis  The Institute for Defense Analysis (IDA) is a nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to promote national security and the public interest and whose primary mission is to assist the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, the unified commands and defense agencies in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise.

Institute for International Economics  The Institute for International Economics is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan research institution devoted to the study of international economic policy.

Institute for Policy Innovation  The Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) is a non-profit, non-partisan public policy "think tank." Its purpose is to research, develop and promote innovative and non-partisan solutions to today's public policy problems. Its focus is on approaches to governing that harness the strengths of individual liberty, limited government, and free markets.

The Levy Economics Institute of Bard College  The Levy Economics Institute of Bard College is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, independently funded research organization devoted to public service. Its purpose is to generate viable, effective public policy responses to important economic problems both within the United States and abroad.

John F. Kennedy School of Government  The John F. Kennedy School of Government is the graduate professional school at Harvard University that serves society's demand for excellence in public service through research, teaching and executive training.

National Bureau of Asian Research  The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan institution that conducts advanced research utilizing the world's premier specialists on Asia and Russia. It also serves as the international clearinghouse on expertise and important policy issues concerning the region.

National Bureau of Economic Research The National Bureau of Economic Research is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization dedicated to promoting a greater understanding of how the economy works. The NBER is committed to promoting and disseminating unbiased economic research among public policymakers, business professionals, and the academic community.

National Research Council  The National Research Council was organized by the National Academy of Sciences to associate the broad community of science and technology with the Academy's purposes of further knowledge and advising the federal government.

RAND  RAND is a nonprofit institution that helps improve public policy through research and analysis. Its mission is to help policymakers strengthen the nation's economy, maintain its security, and improve its quality of life by helping them make choices in education, health care, national defense, and criminal and civil justice, among many other areas.

Stanford Center for International Security and Cooperation The Center for International Security and Arms Control is a multidisciplinary community dedicated to research and training in issues of international security. The Center is part of Stanford University's Institute for International Studies.

The Strategic Studies Institute  The Strategic Studies Institute (SSI) is the primary research faculty of the U.S. Army War College. It identifies international security issues likely to affect the U.S., its friends, and potential adversaries; analyzes national security issues and informs Army leaders of policy options; provides the U.S. Army with a source of ideas, criticism, innovative approaches, and independent analyses.

Twentieth Century Fund  The Twentieth Century Fund is a nonpartisan foundation. It researches and writes about progressive public policy.

United States Institute of Peace   The United States Institute of Peace is an independent, nonpartisan federal institution created and funded by Congress to strengthen the nation's capacity to promote the peaceful resolution of international conflict.

World Resources Institute (WRI)  The World Resources Institute is an independent center for policy research and technical assistance on global environmental and development issues. WRI is dedicated to helping governments and private organizations of all types cope with environmental, resource, and development challenges of global significance.
