It is our pleasure to welcome you to the official Zama American Middle School (ZaMS) website. Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Kanto plains, Zama American Middle School is a Department of Defense Education Agency (DoDEA) school located at Camp Zama U.S. Army Base near Tokyo and just outside of Zama-shi, Japan in the Kanagawa prefecture. Zama Middle School is near has easy access to major transportation centers including airports, highways, railways and bus lines. It is also close to major military installations including Navy Air Facility Atsugi, Yokota U.S. Air Force Base and Yokosuka U.S. Navy Base. To the school's west are the Kanagawa Mountains and Mount Fuji. To its east is the Pacific Ocean.

Who we serve

Zama American Middle School serves military dependent children from both Camp Zama U.S. Army Base and U.S. Naval Air Facility Atsugi. It also hosts dependent children of Department of Defense civilian employees as well as foreign national children. Its current enrollment is about 200 students. Nearby elementary schools feeding into Zama American Middle School include John O. Arnn Elementary School located at Sagamihara Housing Area and Shirley Lanham Elementary School located at Naval Air Facility Atsugi, Japan.
