Command Sergeant Major Jeffery Stitzel entered the United States Army in 1987 and attended Infantry One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia.

His military education includes the Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy (Commandants List), Army Pre-Command Course, Command Sergeants Major Course, United States Army Drill Sergeant School, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Pathfinder School, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Infantry Company Course and Jumpmaster Course.

He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Park University and is pursuing a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University.

His previous assignments include the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, The Old Guard, Fort Myer, Virginia; 2nd Battalion, 13th Infantry Regiment, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; U.S. Army Drill Sergeant School, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; 1st Battalion 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, Fort Richardson, Alaska; Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; 1st Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina as the Brigade Operations Sergeant Major; 1st Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia as the Battalion Command Sergeant Major, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment, The Old Guard, Fort Myer, Virginia as the Regimental Command Sergeant Major.
