American Citizen Services (ACS) Appointments

An appointment is required for all passport, consular report of birth abroad (CRBA), notarial and other services. Each applicant for consular services must have an appointment. For example, if a family of five needs to renew five passports, FIVE separate appointments are required, one for each applicant. Appointments do not have to be at the same time, just all on the same day. Before making an appointment, please review these instructions:

Applicants who reside in Canada are eligible to renew their passports by mail, despite the instructions on the DS-82 form stating that overseas residents may not renew by mail.

Helpful hints for passport or CRBA appointment holders:

  • Please have your appointment letter printed and ready to present.
  • Be sure to complete all forms, and bring all required original supporting civil documents, evidence and required fees.
  • Make an extra copy to leave with us or be prepared to pay USD 1 for each photocopy.
  • Bring a prepaid, self-addressed Canada Post Xpresspost envelope to return your completed passport or CRBA. Please DO NOT purchase the "Pack" size envelope. One envelope is sufficient for families applying at the same time, please be aware that an envelope can hold up to four passports. Put your information in both the "To" and "From" sections. We can only return issued passports and CRBAs by mail to an Ontario address.
