Attention: Fraudulent Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery Notices Seek to Scam Mexicans

It has come to the attention of the U.S. Consulate General Monterrey that Mexicans have been receiving unsolicited email notifications purporting that they have been selected as winners in the Diversity Visa (DV) lottery Program.   Mexico is not eligible for the DV lottery.  The fraudulent notices were not sent by the U.S. Consulate General Monterrey or the U.S. Department of State and are wholly without merit.

The fraudulent notices congratulate recipients on having been selected in the DV lottery and states they must pay a fee of $440.00 US Dollars via Western Union to a U.S. Embassy agent address in the United Kingdom in order to secure their visa.  The address provided is not a U.S Department of State address and Mexican nationals receiving the below notices, or any notice, purporting their eligibility or selection for the Diversity Visa Lottery should not make any payment to a third party.

Mexican nationals receiving the below notice(s), or any notice, stating they have been selected for the DV lottery are encouraged to contact the U.S. State Department via email at:  DSInternetScams@state.gov.
