Receiving your passports and visas by courier service
Unless you have access to the International zone in Baghdad, as a visa applicant you must take delivery of your passport, visa, and documents sent from the US Embassy via courier service. You may not use the consular shuttle to be escorted back into the IZ after your visa interview day for passport pick-up.
You must prepay your shipment with the courier service of your choice and then provide us the billing data in the form of a copy of your prepaid voucher or airway bill either at the time of your visa interview or by sending it to BaghdadNIV@state.gov (visitor visas) or to the address that we gave you at the interview (immigrant visas).
Check with the courier service to see if your passport will be sent directly to your home or to their nearest office. Only the person or persons whose name(s) are specified on the airway bill will be authorized to receive passport packages. The courier will verify the identity of package receivers; please be prepared to present identification documents.
For passport pass back, you need to fill out the information on the courier airway bill as follows:
Sender:
Consular Section
U.S. Embassy Baghdad
Al-Kindi Street
International Zone
Baghdad, Iraq
Receiver:
Your name
Location (or courier office) where you will receive your passport/visa
Your telephone number (it is very important to include this)
Your case number (for immigrant visa cases)
If you need to send documents or other items TO the Embassy that cannot be sent electronically, you can also use courier services to send those items. In this case the sender and receiver above would be reversed.
Currently, there are two courier services providing passport pass back services from the embassy. They are DHL and Federal Express (FedEx). Contacts for each are provided below.
