The American Center, Rangoon offers cultural, educational, and information programs.

At the American Center you'l find the Baldwin Library, over 18,000 volume library stocked with the latest books on social science, health science, business, international relations, religion, U.S. government and politics, English language and how to study in the USA. More than hundred periodicals and a collection of DVDs are available as well as an on-line database search network ideal for researchers and students.

The Center offers courses in English to Burmese adult learners taught by trained and experienced native speaker teachers. The General English courses and the Elective English courses all use a multi-skill approach to language learning.

We assist students who want to study in the United States and have an advising services with an experienced advisor. We offer the prestigious Humphrey and Fulbright scholarships each year to outstanding Burmese.

The Center screens movies, selected to showcase a monthly theme, in the Count Basie Hall. Films are shown Tuesday through Friday at 12:00 noon and Saturdays at 09:00 am. All movies are free and open to the general public.

The Center publishes daily American News & Views, monthly American News & Features (PDF 906.63K), American Mosaic (PDF 839.28K) and quarterly Burmese language Lin Yaung Chi (PDF 885.63K). The Center also has a Book Translation Program, which has translated America's best books into Burmese for the local audience.
