About Us

Welcome to the U.S. Mission to Uganda website.

I hope that you will find the information and links useful and informative.  As the relationship between the U.S. and Uganda deepens, we hope to harness the expanding influence of the internet in Africa to provide a virtual information space to more Ugandans who are interested in learning about the United States.  Through this website, visitors can learn about recent U.S. Mission events, conduct research on U.S. Government policy related to Uganda and the region, and even pose individual questions to our Mission staff.

With our Ugandan partners, the U.S. Government strives to promote democracy and human rights, ensure regional stability, and spur economic growth and development.   Uganda received over $521 million in U.S. assistance in 2009.  This aid will enable Ugandans to build a better future for themselves and their children.  Working together, the United States and Uganda can create a more prosperous world for East Africa, the Continent, and the global community.

The U.S. Mission in Kampala works hard to increase people-to-people exchanges between Americans and Ugandans.  In addition to this virtual information space, the Information Resource Center (located in the U.S. Embassy building on Gbaga Road) operates a public-access library where patrons can find additional resources about the United States.  We have “American Corners” in Port Fortal and Mbale, and a special website devoted to the unique issues in Northern Uganda. Our Consular Section provides information on travel and immigration to the United States and assists American citizens resident in Uganda.

I hope you will find this website helpful and that you will check back regularly to see the latest information and features that we will be constantly adding to the site.

Sincerely,
Scott H. DeLisi
Ambassador
