Become a PMF

Eligibility

Native American (Indian) Preference

Indian preference may apply to positions within the Bureau of Indian Affairs of the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Indian Health Service of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Eligible applicants who are members of a Federally recognized tribe, and who are interested in pursuing employment with these organizations when PMF positions are available, may be required to submit a completed BIA Form 4432, Verification of Indian Preference for Employment in Bureau of Indian Affairs and Indian Health Service. If these agencies have such positions, the Form BIA 4432 is available under the Become A PMF\Application Process section. Such PMF appointment opportunities are rare.

Applicants who can claim Indian Preference should follow these steps:

  • Obtain the BIA Form 4432 from the Become A PMF\Application Process webpage,
  • Fill out the form and have it signed accordingly,
  • Obtain the 2013 Alternative Fax Cover Sheet from the Become A PMF\Application Process
  • Fill out the fax, attach it to the BIA Form 4432, and fax it to the number shown on the cover sheet.

This process exists for applicants to the PMF Class of 2013 only and valid through the same deadline as submitting supporting documentation for veterans' preference (see Timeline). If the applicant is selected as a Finalist, the PMF Program Office will notify the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Indian Health Service of those selected as a Finalist and having a completed BIA Form 4432 on file.
