February 8, 2013 One large fire has burned 102 acres in Georgia. The Buck #1 Fire in Florida was contained last week at 1,169 acres. The rest of the country has minimal fire activity. Weather: A strong winter storm will move through New England by Saturday, leaving heavy snow from New York to Maine before exiting into the North Atlantic. Meanwhile, a Pacific storm will move through the interior West, bringing snow to the Great Basin and Rockies by Sunday. This storm system will move rapidly through the central Plains producing rain and strong thunderstorms in the South and heavy snow to the northern states. It will then move through the Mississippi Valley and off the East Coast by midweek. Below normal temperatures will continue across the northern half of the country through the end of the week. |
