Methods to Improve the Purity of RIBs
- chemical enhancement in the ion source
- LaB6
- molecular transport SnS, GeS
- run at energies where fully-stripped proton-rich beams may be used
- detect and identify beam components (low intensity beams)
- energy loss and time-of-flight
- sample beam continuously
during the experiment (gas counters)
- gas counters such as a Bragg detector
- x-ray sampling
- isobaric separator adjustment (depends on mass differences and ion source beam emittance)
