After graduating from Texas A&M University, Lieutenant Colonel Good was commissioned through the Platoon Leaders Course program in 1995. 

After graduating The Basic School with honors and completing the Infantry Officer’s Course, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 2d Marines from Sept of 1996 to July of 2000 where he served as a Weapons Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, Weapons Company Commander and Rifle Company Commander.  There he deployed with both the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in 1997 and, after promoting to Captain in May 1999, as a part of the Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Okinawa in 1999. 

In July 2000, he was assigned as the Inspector-Instructor for Weapons Company, 1st Bn, 23d Marines in Austin, Texas.  In June of 2003, he attended the Expeditionary Warfare School where he graduated with honors and received orders to 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in June of 2004.  There he served as the H&S Company Commander, deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 02-2 in September 2004 and, after promoting to Major in October 2005, as the Battalion Operations Officer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07.1.

In January 2007, he was assigned as an instructor for Tactical Training and Exercise Control Group at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center.  In July of 2009, he was selected to attend Marine Corps Command and Staff College where he graduated with honors and a Masters of Military Science.  In July of 2010, he reported to USNORTHCOM, Joint Task Force North, where he initially served as the Chief of Security Cooperation and ultimately as the J-5 Chief of Plans. 

In June of 2012, Lieutenant Colonel Good was promoted to his present rank and returned to Twenty-Nine Palms, California to serve initially as the 7th Marines (Rear) Operations Officer until his posting as the Commanding Officer, 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in December 2012.  

Lieutenant Colonel Good is the recipient of the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Naval Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device and two gold stars, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
