The Institute of Heraldry

The Institute of Heraldry provides unique heraldic services including research, design, and procurement assistance for insignia, agency seals, decorations, flags, and other emblems that may be required by the Executive Branch, Federal agencies, and the Armed forces. The Institute is also responsible for administering the Army and Air Force heraldic quality-control program to ensure that only the highest quality military insignia are sold through commercial sources such as the Army and Air Force Exchange Service.

Records Management and Declassification Agency

The Records Management and Declassification Agency (RMDA) is the Archivist of the Army and represents the U.S. Army to the National Archives and Records Administration to ensure statutory requirements established by Congress are complied with during the collection, preservation and declassification of the Army's official records. The Agency is the Department of Defense action agent for the research of records related to Agent Orange and post-traumatic stress disorder. RMDA also oversees the Army's Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act programs.

Pentagon Chaplain

The Pentagon Chaplain provides religious services, rites, sacraments, religious education, programs, and leadership for the faith practices of the Pentagon work force. The Chaplain provides ceremonial support in the form of invocations, benedictions, memorial services, funerals, weddings, prayer breakfasts, and other spiritual fitness programs. Additionally, pastoral care and counseling support is provided upon request to all military, civilian and DOD personnel working in the Pentagon.

Army Multimedia and Visual Information Directorate

The Army Multimedia and Visual Information Directorate (AMVID) provides television studio and remote-location-live-event TV broadcast productions; official military ceremony and event video and photography documentation; portrait and still photography; graphics design, illustration, and static display; digital imagery accessioning and archiving; multimedia presentations and productions; commercial video production acquisition; and Pentagon Auditorium Management.

Army Publishing Directorate

The Army Publishing Directorate (APD) is the Army’s leader in publishing and distributing information products, employing advanced technologies to ensure responsive support Army-wide. The Army Publishing Content Management System (APCMS) is an enterprise infrastructure that can support the automation of any business process using tools that are already deployed to more than 1.6 million Army customers around the world. APCMS provides Army customers the tools needed to complete, edit, print, sign, route, track, and store forms and publications electronically, regardless of location – worldwide.

Directorate of Mission Assurance

The Directorate of Mission Assurance ensures integration and synchronization of 15 protection, security and safety programs to assure the operational resilience of Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA) in the National Capital Region (NCR). Additionally, the directorate manages the Central United States Registry System (CUSR), charged with ensuring compliance, accountability, safeguarding and protection of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) classified information maintained at 115 United States Government sub-registries throughout the world. The directorate also carries out the Command Security Manager function, providing personnel, communications and information security program management, as well as Army locksmith services and parking management for HQDA.

Support Services–Washington

Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) services are provided to enhance the quality of life, enrich the working environment, and enable the readiness of the military and civilian community in the Pentagon and parts of the National Capital Region. Key operations are the Army Executive Dining Facility and the Pentagon Athletic Center, which has two annexes in Crystal City available to all military services and Department of Defense (DoD) civilians. The Armed Forces Hostess Association delivers information and informative welcome packets for military and DoD civilian families new to the Washington area.

Logistics Services Washington

The Logistics Services Washington (LSW) provides logistical management services and support to a diverse customer base. Our services include the Army Gift program, property accountability, passport and visa services, permanent change of station transportation to include household goods (HHG) and Do-It-Yourself-Moves (DITY), and oversight of official contract commercial travel services. DOL-W provides storage, warehousing, property disposal, turn-ins, excess property program, and movement of supplies and equipment within the NCR. Other services include: reproduction, correspondence processing and mail delivery within the Pentagon for OAA, the Secretary of the Army and staff. DOL-W also provides storage and distribution of multi-media products world-wide to authorized users.

Travel

The Directorate of Executive Travel (DET) provides executive airlift and ground transportation services to Congress, Combatant Commands, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff, and Headquarters, Departments of the Air Force and Army. DET authors, implements and manages Army-wide travel policy on behalf of the Secretary of the Army and in accordance with Title X responsibilities. DET also serves as a trusted policy and travel advisor to the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army and senior officials within the Headquarters, Department of the Army.

Real Estate and Facilities–Army

The Real Estate and Facilities–Army (REF-A) Directorate plans, manages and administers a comprehensive real estate and facilities program for 10,000 personnel at more than 53 locations. Space planning activities incorporate approximately 5 million square feet in the National Capital Region as well as Army Base Realignment and Closure 2005 recommendations for leased space. Specific services include space planning and management, lease administration, furniture acquisition, architectural and engineering services, renovation and modernization project planning, and management and building maintenance. REF–A also manages the space, telecommunications requirements and other issues related to the Pentagon Renovation Program.
