The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is a private, nonprofit foundation dedicated to the growth and strengthening of democratic institutions around the world. Each year, with funding from the US Congress, NED supports more than 1,000 projects of non-governmental groups abroad who are working for democratic goals in more than 90 countries.

Journal of Democracy releases Jan. 2013 issue

On the heels of China’s 18th Party Congress, held in November 2012, the Journal of Democracy is publishing a set of eight essays written by specialists from the U.S. and China on the prospects for change in the authoritarian country that is home to the world’s biggest population and second-biggest economy.

Also featured in the issue are articles discussing Egypt’s liberals, the transformation in the Arab World, recent elections in Georgia and Mexico, and how to control corruption, among others. :: more
