Office of Information Security

The VA Office of Information Security (OIS) provides world class information security and privacy infrastructure for VA. Through VA's core values - integrity, commitment, advocacy, respect, and excellence (I CARE), OIS enacts strong policies, processes, and procedures that help protect the information and systems that affect more than 22.2 million Veterans, 45 million beneficiaries, and over 320,000 VA employees.

OIS is devoted to supporting all states of Veteran care by protecting the personal information of Veterans and the employees who serve them. Their security approach is to balance information protection with information access. VA safeguards Veteran, beneficiary, and employee sensitive information, while continuing to provide high quality services to Veterans and their beneficiaries.

In the security world, new threats emerge on a daily basis. OIS is continually adapting its security parameters and approaches to ensure that VA systems and information are protected.
