Subject: Live Internet Webinar - Gainful Employment: How to Read Your GE Back-Up Detail Report - Question and Answer Session

Summary: This letter announces an instructor-led, online training session that will provide an opportunity for institutions to ask technical questions about the Gainful Employment (GE) Informational Rates backup detail reports that were recently released.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce that on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. (ET) we will be presenting the ninth in a series of webinars designed to provide institutions that participate in the Federal student assistance programs authorized by Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, with information on the regulatory requirements related to Title IV-eligible educational programs that lead to gainful employment in a recognized occupation (GE Programs).

This webinar is a follow-up to the webinar we presented on May 16, 2012 that discussed the NSLDS Gainful Employment Backup Detail Report (GEDR) that supports an institution’s 2011 GE Informational Rates. This webinar will offer participants an opportunity to have questions related to the GEDR answered by Federal Student Aid presenters. Note that this webinar is limited to a discussion of the GEDR and will not include other information related to the gainful employment regulations or to the results of the 2011 Gainful Employment Informational Rates.

Note: A recording of the May 16, 2012 webinar ("Gainful Employment Webinar #7- How to Read Your GE Backup Detail Report") is available on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site. In addition, institutions should review the Gainful Employment Operations Manual prior to attending this webinar, as it contains important information which will complement the webinar presentation. In particular, participants should refer to the "Publication and Access to Gainful Employment Debt Measures and Loan Medians for Disclosures" section of the manual.

Federal Student Aid staff will present this webinar in a one-hour session on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. (ET).

Note: There may be a difference between a trainee’s local time and Eastern Time. To determine local time and its Eastern Time zone equivalent, click on this link:

Advance registration is required for this training and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To allow for as many participants as possible, we strongly encourage groups to view the webinar from a single location if accommodations allow. If viewing as a group, only one person from the group needs to register.

To register for the webinar, click on this link:

Once registered, we will send an e-mail confirmation to the trainee. The trainee should retain this confirmation, as it contains important information, including linking and log in information for the Web site, system test links, and cancellation information. If unable to attend, we request that the trainee cancel his or her registration so that individuals who wish to attend may do so.

PowerPoint slides will be available for each trainee to download after he or she signs in to the webinar. During the webinar, trainees will be able to ask questions electronically using their computers.

We look forward to your participation in this instructor-led, online training opportunity.
