1/24/2013 - TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Super Bowl Sunday. Bring it on. Whether you're a diehard sports fan or not it's hard not to get excited about Super Bowl Sunday It's one of many things about our country that I love.

As Americans, we can all take great pride in the Super Bowl because it's competition in its purest form. From the opening kickoff, anything is possible as the two teams collide.

If we're not cheering for our team, we're cheering for the underdog. We love to see people overcome the odds, achieve their victories and accomplish what some may have said was impossible.

That taste of victory is especially sweet when it's shared. When you see a team overcome setbacks and obstacles and achieve its goal, it's a triumph for everyone. We all share in those victories because it re-enforces what we as Americans all grow up knowing and believing.

You can do whatever you want as long as you put your mind to it and, anything is possible. We are Ameri-can not Ameri-can'ts. We push through when others give up. We press on when they say it's too hard and we believe when others say impossible. On Super Bowl Sunday, we'll have our own world-class competition to showcase the best Travis has to offer.

As you read this article, our base already will embark on one of nine headquarters inspections that will take place between now and the second week in February. Many will watch the Super Bowl on the digital video recorder this year because we'll be knee deep in our own Super Bowl.

We're going to be going up against a hand-picked team of the best Air Mobility Command and the Air Force has to offer and some might think beating them is impossible. Those that who have never been through an inspection before may have some doubts. To you I say, trust your leadership, your supervision, your training, your team and above all, trust yourself.

During the past few months, we've trained more than any other time throughout the year. We've done so while at the same time surging our fleet to contingency levels to meet the demands of our headquarters, our nation and our allies to support the embassy bombings, to provide relief for Hurricane Sandy and to move Patriots to Turkey for border defense.

We've juggled all of this while we held exercises to add training on top of what we're already doing. The months of training allowed everyone the opportunity to polish the details of our game. It's that extra polish that's going to make everyone shine on game day.

You are part of a team that is America's first choice for a reason. We get it done and we do it better than anyone in AMC and in the Air Force.

They're going to bring the best to grade the best, but we'll have huge advantages on our side. We have home-field advantage and we will not be alone. The entire base, 60th Air Mobility Wing, 349th Air Mobility Wing and the 621st Contingency Response Wing will all be all in for our Super Bowl, one team galvanized to succeed.

You've put in the time. You've put in the extra training. We have a few more days to fine tune and then its go-time. I'm proud of everything everyone has done to prepare for these inspections and I'm proud to take our C-5 Galaxy team to this fight knowing we're standing shoulder to shoulder with some of the highest caliber professionals our Air Force has to offer. Bring it on.
