Emergency Messages for U.S. Citizens

  • February 8, 2013: A protest has been scheduled for this Saturday, February 9th, starting at 1:30 pm.  The protest will likely originate on Cook Street behind Christ Church Cathedral and move through College Green towards Merrion Square.   • November 23, 2012: According to local media outlets in Ireland, several organizations are calling for an anti-austerity protest march in Dublin on Saturday November 24, 2012.   The march will begin at 1:00 PM in Parnell Square north of the Liffey River and continue south to the Dáil (Parliament) at Leinster House, Kildare Street.   • November 23, 2012: A Congolese group is scheduled to stage a protest at the U.S. Embassy in Dublin today, November 23, 2012, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.  Consular services other than emergency services for American citizens will be suspended until Monday November 26, 2012.  Please read emergency Consular Message for U.S Citizens - Demonstration webpage for further details.
  • October 19, 2012: On Saturday, October 20, a Libyan group is scheduled to protest outside the U.S. Embassy in Dublin from approximately 1400-1600 hours.  Previous protest activity involving the Libyan community in Dublin has remained peaceful.  However, Embassy personnel have been advised to avoid the area and in general, any large crowds and/or protests.   • September 26, 2012: An Garda Síochána has informed Embassy Dublin of a planned protest on Wednesday morning, September 26, in the vicinity of the Embassy.   • September 19, 2012: In response to the recent events at our U.S. mission in Libya and related protests worldwide, Ireland’s National Police Service, An Garda Síochána, informed Embassy Dublin of a planned protest on Friday afternoon, September 21 in the vicinity of the Embassy.   The Embassy’s Consular section, including the American Citizens Services Unit, will close at 1:00 pm on that day.  U.S. Citizens requiring emergency services can contact the American Citizen Services Unit at +353 1 630 6200.  Please read Emergency Consular Message for U.S. Citizens - Demonstration webpage.

  • November 16, 2011: The United States Embassy informs U.S. citizens of reports of a protest to be held in the City Center area of Dublin starting at 1230 hours on November 16, 2011.  The protest is anticipated to start in the vicinity of O’Connell Street and march to other locations.
