International Travel Resources for NOS Staff

This page provides guidance for NOS employees seeking the required clearance from NOS and the U.S. Government for international travel. Federal law requires all U.S. Government employees traveling overseas on official government business to notify the U.S. Department of State of a traveler’s presence within a foreign country. These Country Clearance Cables notify the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., U.S. Embassies and post officers abroad of employee’s proposed travel to a foreign country.

Provided below are links to complete the NOS and country clearance request, with accompanying information, as well as helpful links for planning official travel abroad.

Please be advised that country clearance requests are to be submitted to the NOS International Program Office at least thirty (30) days prior to travel. Travelers are also required to submit to IPO the first page and flight itinerary of their travel authorization form. Please fax these documents to IPO at:
