Passport Issuance

All passport services require an appointment.

First-Time Passport Issuance and Renewals for Minors (under 16)

  • For U.S. citizens under age 16, a passport costs $105.
  • Both parents must be physically present to take an oath and sign for the minor child.
  • Parents should bring their own passports, one photo of the child, and the original birth certificate. At the time of interview, a consular officer may require more documentation.
  • If one parent will be out of the country at the time of the appointment, he or she may complete a Statement of Consent (DS-3053) in front of a notary. The original, notarized DS-3053 must be submitted at the time of the appointment.
  • More detailed application instructions.

First-Time Applicants Over Age 16

  • For U.S. citizens age 16 and over a first-time passport costs $135. This applies to adults applying for the first time. This also applies to those who have had passports as a minor and this will be the first passport issued since turning 16 years old.
  • Please bring your U.S. birth certificate or Consular Report of Birth Abroad and a second form of photo ID that has a signature. At the time of interview, a consular officer may require more documentation.
  • If you have an official military passport, then you should apply for your tourist passport as if it is a renewal.
  • More detailed application instructions.

Renewing a Passport for Adults

  • A passport renewal for U.S. citizens age 16 and over costs $110.
  • Please bring your current passport or (if expired) your most recent passport. If you have an official military passport, your tourist passport is considered a renewal, not a first- time passport. In that case, you should bring your official passport to the appointment.
  • The U.S Embassy can process an application for a replacement passport in the event that a passport is lost or stolen. If you believe your passport has been stolen, report the theft to the local police immediately and obtain a police declaration. Bring this declaration with you to the Consular Section when you apply for a new passport.
