The strong presence of American firms here is directly related to Hong Kong's long-standing commitment to free trade. AmCham currently represents over 1,200 U.S. companies doing business in Hong Kong, of which over 800 are either regional offices or headquarters. U.S. companies appreciate the city's free market orientation, transparent legal system, and well-established rule of law, which together provide a stable and predictable foundation for growth. Hong Kong's model is one that many economies in Asia could usefully emulate.
